Merubah Kalimat Direct Speech Menjadi Indirect Speech

Direct Speech atau juga disebut kalimat langsung adalah kalimat yang menirukan apa yang diucapkan orang lain tanpa merubah sedikpun. Artinya kita mengulang apa yang ia ucapkan
Misalnya:
He said " I will come to your house"
Ini adalah kalimat langsung. Kita menirukan persis apa yang orang lain ucapkan. Dalam kalimat Direct Speech kita menggunakan quotation mark (").

Sedangkan Indirect Speech atau kalimat tidak langsung adalah kalimat yang tidak menirukan apa yang orang lain ucapkan.
Misalnya:
He said that he would come to my house
Dalam kalimat Indirect Speech kita tidak menggunakan quotation mark (").


Ø  Dalam kalimat positif dan negative kita menggunakan “that”
Contoh:

He said “ I was happy”
He said that he had been happy
Sandra said “ I don’t like coffe
Sandra said that she didn’t like coffee

Ø  Yes/no question menggunakan “if atau whether”
Direct Speech
Indirect Speech
She asked me “Do you believe me?”
She aksed me if I believed her
My mother said “Are you disappointed?”
My mother asked whether I was disappointed

Ø  Wh-question tetap menggunakan wh-question
Direct Speech
Indirect Speech
Tony said “Where does she live?”
Tony asked me where she lived
Anna asked “Why are you sad?”
Ana asked me why I was sad

Ø  Kalimat perintah positif menngunakan “to”
Direct Speech
Indirect Speech
He said “Call me back”
He asked me to call him back
You said “Take me a glass of water”
You asked me to take you a glass of water

Ø  Kalimat perintah negative menggunakan “not to”
Direct Speech
Indirect Speech
My teacher said “Don’t come late”
My teacher asked me not to come late
I said “Don’t punish him”
I asked you not to punish him
Kalimat perintah positif dan negative  menggunakan “asked” yang artinya menyuruh atau memerintah


Dalam kalimat Indirect Speech  juga terjadi beberapa perubahan bentuk TENSES.
