Tiban Mosque is located in the west of Probolinggo city excatly in Pilang village. It takes about ten minutes from the city center or from Probolinggo bus station.

Nobody knew when the mosque was built. But it is believed that Tiban Mosque suddenly appeared. It means that nobody built it. That's why it is called "Tiban Mosque". "Tiban" is a Javanese language which has a meaning "fall down". So people around the mosque said that Tiban Mosque fell down from somewhere they didn't know and suddenly appeared.

There is also a stone at the mosque. It was said that Syeh Maulana ever dropped over at the mosque to have a meditation and he sat on that stone. Besides, Tiban Mosque has also spring water. Many people come to the mosque to drink or take away water from it. It is believed that the water can cure some diseases. Visitors not only come from Probolinggo, but also from the other province such as Kalimantan, Sumatera, Maluku etc.
