Tips Cara Menulis Diary Bahasa Inggris Dengan Benar

Diary adalah kegiatan sehari-hari kita yang dituangkan lewat tulisan. Dalam belajar bahasa Inggris diary merupakan cara yang bagus untuk latihan. Namun untuk menulis diary dalam bahasa Inggris dengan benar tidaklah mudah. Ada beberapa cara yang harus kita kuasai. Termasuk penguasaan grammar, perbendaharaan kosa kata yang banyak, kemampuan dalam menulis dengan baik dll. Namun demikian hal itu tidaklah menjadi penghambat dalam belajar bahasa Inggris.

Menulis diary bahasa Inggris tidaklah harus tersusun rapi. Kita yang kemampuan grammarnya masih kurang, perbendaharaan kosa kata masih sedikit tetap boleh menulis diary. Masalah benar atau tidaknya itu urusan belakang. Jangan malu melihat diary kita yang mungkin masih amburadul atau asal-asalan. Asalkan kita terus belajar kita pasti bisa.

Berikut beberapa tips dari saya untuk menulis diary bahasa Inggris

• Diary adalah kegiatan yang sudah terjadi di waktu lampau. Dalam hal ini kita harus menggunakan Simple Past Tense

Misalnya: Yesterday I got up at a half past four

• Tidak semua kalimat menggunakan Simple Past Tense.

Misalnya: Yesterday I got up at a half past four. I usually get up at 6 o'clock

Kalimat yang pertama menggunakan past tense sedangkan yang kedua menggunakan Simple Present Tense.  Kenapa demikian? Karena kalimat kedua tidak menceritakan kejadian yang terjadi kemarin. Kita hanya mengatakan bahwa kita biasanya bangun jam 6.

• Gunakan kata sambung and then, then, after that.

Misalnya: Yesterday I got up at a half past four then I took a bath. After that I prayed Shubuh.

Apabila ada kata kerja setelah "after" kata kerja tersebut harus ditambah -ing.

Misalnya: After having breakfast I went to school

Atau kita bisa juga menulis "After I had breakfast I went to school".

• Gunakan "at" apabila ingin menyertakan jamnya

Misalnya: I watched TV at 7 o'clock

• Tulislah kegiatan secara detail. Misalnya kita sarapan, kita tulis sarapan dengan apa, nonton TV nonton apa.

I had lunch after school. I had eggs, chicken and spinach

Before going to bed I watched TV. I watched news and a film

Contoh Penulisan Diary Dalam Bahasa Inggris: Thursday, May 1st 2014

Yesterday I got up at a half past twelve in the morning. I never get up at that time. It was very early. I was sure that  everybody was still in bed. After that I turned on my computer. I got on the internet.
At about 1 o'clock I prayed Thajjud then I went back to get on the internet. I knew that at 1:45 there would be a Champion League big match, Bayern Munche vs Real Madrid. I was waiting for the the match to kick off.

The match started. I watched it while I was getting on the internet. And the final score was 0-4 won by Real Madrid. Real Madrid goes Lisbon for the grand final match.
At 4:15 I prayed Shubuh then as usual I cleaned the house. After my house looked clean I went back to get on the internet. I never stay away from the internet. The internet is one of my teacher.

It was Wednesday.I usually teach at TK Kartini PG Wonolangan. But it was holiday. The teachers went to Malang to accompany some students for a contest. So I was free yesterday.
At about nine I went to a bank with my wife and son to pay my monthly bill. Then I took a nap. I got up at twelve o'clock then had my lunch. After that I took a bath. After that I prayed Dhuhur.

After praying I got on the internet again until 2:00 as I had to teach at a half past two. I finished teaching at 4:00 then I went home. I got on the internet again. Actually I wanted to pray but there was someone in the bathroom. At 5:15 I had my dinner then I prayed Maghrib.

After praying I taught my private students near Piyeng Market in J Lo ( Jrebeng Lor ). I finished teaching at 9 pm. Then I prayed Isya'. After that I got on the internet again. The clock stroke to twelve. I wasn't sleepy because I would watch my favourite football club Chelsea play in the quarter final . The kick off will be at 1:45. And It was still 1 o'clock. I felt very sleepy. I tried to lie down in front of the TV and hoped that I would get up at 2:00 when the match started.
Unfortunately my wife woke me up. I saw the clock. It was 4:20. OH MY GOD...!!! I missed the big match. I tried to know the score. I turned on my TV but it was still advertisement. I took my mobile. What a surprise !!! A lot of messages came on my mobile. They said " Alhamdulillah Chelsea lost ".
But I wasn't disappointed although Chelsea was beaten by Atletico Madrid by score 1-3. In a game there will a winner and a loser. The winner will not always win and the loser will not always lose.

Contoh Penulisan Diary Dalam Bahasa Inggris: Wednesday, April 16th 2014

It was Wednesday Yesterday. I got up at 3 am. I seldom get up at 3. Then I watched football match on TV. It was "El Classico" Real Madrid vs Barcelona. It was the biggest match in the world. And Real Madrid won the match. After watching TV I prayed Shubuh. Then as usual I helped my wife clean the house. I swept and mopped the floor.
At a half past five I watched TV again. It was my favourite program "Lensa Olahraga". I always watch it everyday. I have to know the latest information about football and other sports espesially MotoGP. While I was watching my son got up from his sleep. He got out of his bed himself. He didn't cry. He used to cry when he was 2 years old and now he is 3.

At 6 o'clock my wife, son and I had breakfast together. We had eggplant "lalapan" and tempe. It is my favourite meal. I like lalapan very much especially cassava leaves. Then I took a bath with my son while my wife was washing the plates. After taking a bath I prayed Dhuha then I went to school to teach at MTs Zainul Hasan 2 Jorongan Probolinggo. I finished teaching at 11 am. Then I had lunch. I had the same meal as my breakfast before I took a bath again to pray Dhuhur.

After Praying I took a short nap. Then at a half past two I went to teach again at my English Course until a half past five. After that I took a bath then prayed Magrib.
At six o'clock I had to teach my private student. I taught at their house. They are Elementary student and Senior High student. I finished at 9 pm. Then I went home.

I Prayed Isya' then I watched TV before I went to bed at 10:30.
